Application process for all current Ryerson University students.
Startups that include one or more Ryerson students enter the DMZ through StartMeUp (SMU). This service empowers entrepreneurs to start and expand their businesses by providing education, resources and possibly funding.
A SMU representative will contact you to schedule a meeting and discuss where you are in your business life cycle and its sophistication level.
3. Idea Consultation Pitch.
When you are ready, you will pitch your idea to a panel of industry experts at an SMU Idea Consultation and receive feedback and guidance.
4. Submit the DMZ Application Form
SMU representatives will recommend eligible and prepared companies to the DMZ, and provide assistance (if needed) in filling out the DMZ application form.
5. Pitch the DMZ Steering Committee.
Finally, suitable applicants complete the application process by pitching the DMZ Steering Committee. Pitch sessions happen at least once a month, and you’ll be notified within two weeks if you are accepted.
The amount of time it takes to complete this application process is largely dependent on where you are with your business. If your business has a solid foundation it may take as little as six weeks. If you are asked to finesse or in any way alter your business plan it could take longer.
